A degree in criminology opens up many exciting and interesting careers relating in crime and one career than many choose is within probation as a probation officer but you could work with the police analysing cases and helping to resolve cases.

Working in criminology is a very interesting and demanding area of expertise and one where you will need to be able to pay great attention to detail and study carefully to examine all the facts of any case that you working on. You will be expected to have good written and oral communication skills as you will need to be able to do reports and keep paperwork up to date and accurate and help ex prisoners to develop their skills and start applying for jobs and getting their lives back on track.

Criminology Personal Statement Example

I am a degree educated criminology specialist who is seeking a career as a probation officer. I have always had a keen interest in crime and studying why people commit crimes and the different backgrounds they come from and what makes them do the crimes they do.

I am eager to pursue a career where I can make a difference to people's lives and help to point them in the right direction and make their lives better with some clear guidance and direction being provided. I am hard working and have excellent communication skills both verbally and written and I like to continue researching and developing my skills and reading up on new methods and way of helping the crime specialists solve cases.

I am an honest and dedicated professional who works hard and is self motivated in work. I work well with others in a team environment and thrive well on new challenges set. I like to work in a varied and interesting environment and chose to study criminology because of this.
